Y.E.A.S. was one of two graphic design internships I completed in 2021. During this internship, I focused on creating engaging social media content and promotional graphics to help increase awareness and audience engagement for the organization's events.

Y.E.A.S. is a community-based environmental education program serving Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore, including Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties. Its mission is to empower young people to take action on local environmental issues while building the leadership skills and confidence needed to create meaningful change within their communities.

This internship gave me valuable experience designing for social media, collaborating with a mission-driven organization, and creating visual content that effectively communicated educational initiatives to a younger audience.

First Project :

One of the first projects I worked on during my internship with Y.E.A.S. was designing a series of social media graphics for their Featured Speakers and Keynote Speakers. The goal was to create designs that aligned with the organization's existing brand identity while introducing a clean, modern aesthetic.

The client wanted the Keynote Speaker graphics to remain visually consistent with the Featured Speaker posts while also feeling more prominent and celebratory. To give them flexibility in choosing a direction, I developed three unique design concepts. This allowed the team to compare different visual approaches and either select their favorite or combine elements from multiple concepts before moving forward with the final design.

Social Media Design :

The second project I worked on was an informational social media campaign designed to share important event details across Y.E.A.S.'s social media platforms. One of the biggest challenges was presenting a large amount of information in a way that remained visually engaging and easy to read.

To explore the best solution, I created three different layout concepts, each organizing the content in a unique way. After reviewing the designs with the team, we determined that a carousel post would provide a much better user experience by breaking the information into smaller, more digestible sections. I then adapted two of the original concepts into the carousel format, allowing the client to compare the approaches before selecting a final direction.

Following a few final refinements, the completed carousel was published across the organization's social media channels, where it received strong engagement and successfully communicated the event information in a clear, accessible format.

Count Down :

One of the final projects I designed for Y.E.A.S. was a series of countdown posts that were published daily leading up to the submission deadline. The primary goal of this campaign was to capture attention, encourage participation, and increase the number of submissions before the deadline.

To help the posts stand out within the organization's social media feed, I created bold, eye-catching designs that built anticipation as the deadline approached. I also wanted the visuals to reinforce the educational and environmental mission of the program, incorporating nature-inspired elements that reflected the organization's identity while maintaining consistency with its existing brand.
